Steve and Liz’s backyard wedding was one of my favorite days this year!! Like so many couples, they faced the difficult decision to postpone the celebration of their wedding until 2021. But these two had the BEST attitude and decided to tie the knot on their original wedding date anyhow!
I first met Steve, gosh, I was probably 11 years old!! His sister and I are great friends and met while in our 6th grade band class! Oh, how times have changed! When they decided to host an intimate wedding ceremony surrounded by their immediate families, I was so thrilled that he and his fiancé reached out!
Their Backyard Wedding
I started the day over at Steve’s childhood home, capturing his details while also obviously catching up with his mom, sister and their pup, Bacci. I mean LOOK AT HIM! They put a little suit on him! From there, we headed over to Liz’s home where the wedding would be taking place! I loved her details and all of the special ways she decided to make this celebration unique. In the end, she decided to save her formal wedding dress for their larger celebration and found an incredible knee-length alternative at David’s Bridal! I loved all the delicate beading on her dress!
Their ceremony space in Liz’s backyard was absolutely breathtaking! All of Steve and Liz’s siblings got together and created a traditional hoopah backdrop for the special occasion! And I mean, they made it from scratch – hammer and nail! I was so impressed, it looked incredibly professional and the entire backyard was set up so beautifully! I kept joking that I had to hire their family to help me plan my wedding!
After the ceremony, I snuck Steve and Liz away for some Husband and Wife portraits around their neighborhood! We had to be quick because the sky opened up and began pouring!! You never know when a summer thunderstorm may roll in, but we made the absolute best of it by taking some photos of them under a sweet umbrella and later, watched as a gorgeous rainbow came out!
The rest of their celebration was so special – from roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, to having a surprise sparkler exit – it was such a beautiful day! I was so thrilled that Steve and Liz decided to host this intimate backyard wedding. It was full of such joy, happiness and the love of their families.

Steve and Liz have the sweetest love, like that Nat King Cole kinda love (yes, cue the scene from Parent Trap #iykyk). But seriously, it’s the kind of the love that every time I looked over at them they were smiling ear to ear at each other. It was like they couldn’t believe that they were married, that they got to spend the rest of their lives next to this incredible person.
I wish these two nothing but the best and am hoping that 2021 brings about another beautiful celebration for them!!
