It’s been done before, and it’ll be done for ages – but that’s what makes it so quintessential New York! This classic and chic New York City engagement session was luxurious and sophisticated. I adored capturing Kelly and Tommy’s iconic New York City engagement session and the details were so beautifully selected. 

Kelly and Tommy’s quintessential New York City engagement session was the precursor to their New Year’s Eve wedding downtown later that year. These two live and fell in love in New York. So it felt only fitting to encapsulate this exciting time for their lives with an ode to the city they call home.

We started their session at the New York Public Library in Midtown, just as the gates were opening for the morning. I love scheduling Manhattan sessions early in the morning because it feels void of crowds. For a single moment, it’s as if all of New York is conspiring just to make beauty for you. Without the hustle and bustle of the morning commute, you can actually hear birds chirping high above in the trees that surround Bryant Park. 

Traipsing up and down the stairs at the New York Public Library, there were so many spots to draw inspiration from. The hollowed out archways of thick-cut marble served as a romantically clean slate for otherwise artistic mediums. Each photograph against this backdrop felt sweeter than the last. 

We ended this portion of their session by crossing the street and hailing, none other than, a New York City cab. Our next stop — Central Park. 

Hosting their session at both the New York Public Library and Central Park felt quintessential to New York in its polar opposites. What was sleek, stoic, and poised at the library, suddenly became playful, lush, and cozy at Central Park. These two locations served to showcase New York in all of its glory and we adored visiting Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge and The Mall within Central Park’s 72nd Street area. 

What more can you ask for during a New York City engagement than a lovely spring day with gleaming sunshine and images to last a lifetime.
