Oh I am SO excited to be finally blogging this dream of a New York City Engagement Session!! If you’ve been around here for a bit, you may recognize these two as my brother and his fiancé! And if you’ve been around here since the beginning of FDP, you may have even seen them when I photographed a sweet couples session at Washington Square Park! Truth be told, I photographed that session about a month into starting my own business and it is so fun to look back on and see how far I’ve come!
Engagement Session Details
Now, almost 2 years later, I’m SO excited to have been able to capture their stunning engagement session in New York City! Their engagement session was seriously a dream come true for me. I adore the quintessential New York City romance that these two have and even more so, I love that they chose to get all dressed up for their session. I share tips for my clients in my Style Guide on what to wear for their engagement session, but these two seriously took it up a notch and it. was. AMAZING.
For most of my New York City engagement sessions, I recommend beginning at sunrise. This way, we don’t have to contend with crowds, it’s super easy to get around, and on a hot summer day like this one was, it’s even a bit cooler! We started their session in midtown at Times Square before heading to Bryant Park! Bryant Park is one of my favorite spots in the city, especially around the holidays! Even more than that, I love that it’s connected to the New York Public Library! The NYPL is iconic in New York City and the strong marble columns had me GUSHING. It was seriously a photographer’s dream to capture their black-tie formal looks in front of this beautiful building.
From there, they changed into a more casual outfit and we headed downtown to the South Street Seaport! I love little nooks like this in Manhattan, with cobblestone streets and views of the harbor!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it for years and years and years, but it is always so incredibly special when my work gets to intertwine in my life. Who else can say that, huh? I couldn’t be more excited for these two to tie the knot so soon and gain another big sis! Wishing them nothing but happiness and love for years to come!
