Ooh friend, rub the sleepiness out of your eyes, put on your fave dress and let’s get chatting about why sunrise engagement sessions can be truly so rewarding and beneficial! But first, let me backup a bit.
The Engagement Session Process
When scheduling an engagement session with me, I provide all of my clients with a Style Guide curated with session details, outfit ideas, as well as suggestions for selecting the perfect location and timing. To take a sneak peek at my Engagement Session Style Guide, check it out here! One of my favorite parts of the Style Guide is to share about the perfect time of day for your engagement session. Typically, I suggest either sunrise or sunset because that Golden Hour Glow is no joke! We’ve all heard of it, right? That creamy light that happens just before sunset and just before the sun rises in the morning.
Many of my couples opt for sunset sessions and they never disappoint! But today, I wanted to share with you 4 benefits of selecting a sunrise engagement session!
4 Benefits of a Sunrise Engagement Session
#1) Avoid crowds: It really does feel like you have the whole world to yourself. Especially if you’re selecting a busy location like Central Park in Manhattan or DUMBO in Brooklyn.
#2) Feel at ease: I get it, having photos taken of yourself can be a little nerve wracking. It’s not everyday you’re getting engagement photos taken, so it’s absolutely normal to have some jitters. Trust me, 15 minutes in those jitters will be gone! But, I’ve found that when there isn’t anyone else around, my couples are able to relax easier and simply embrace the romance of their session even more.
#3) Brunch: I always encourage my couples to make a date out of their engagement session! Life and wedding planning can get so busy it’s incredibly important to make time for each other. Engagement sessions are a great way to do that and often I encourage my couples to make dinner reservations after their sunset session. You’re already all dressed up! In the case of a sunrise though, swap out a dinner reservation for brunch! And who doesn’t love brunch?
#4) A Little Extra Magic: I’ve always felt that sunrises are extra special because you have to work for them. For me, this reminds me of relationships. The relationships you keep in your life, especially with the person you’re planning on marrying is extra special when you work for it.
Relationships are hard work. It takes compromise and communication and love and trust and respect. Similarly, sunrises are hard dang work too! If you want to see a sunrise in the summertime, you gotta get your butt out of bed by 5am to see the sun slowly crown the horizon by 5:30!
