It’s SO important to take a step back and re-evaluate your business, the systems you’re using, the style, etc. As I begin to grow my business this reflective step is critical – I find myself evaluating and re-evaluating every other day to make sure I’m on track for my personal growth and goals. That’s why this session was particularly important for me.

Anna has been one of my very best friends since we studied abroad together and were roommates in our quaint Florentine apartment. OH how I wish I could go back to living that life of cappuccinos, live street music, and hearing the romantic sound of the Italian language every day. A girl can dream…

Anyway, since then, Anna has been such a rock for me. Between all of our lengthy conversations about life, love, and what kind of gelato we should get for dessert, pretty sure she’s a friend for life. With that, I was so excited when she agreed to do some location scouting with me and experiment with some portrait poses.

Lyndhurst Mansion is such a gorgeous setting for any session; whether it’s a portrait, engagement or family session, the hills on the property seem to go on forever and create a dynamic backdrop for photos. Capturing images with Anna last week was a breeze, not only because we laughed the entire time, but because we made sure to account for the LIGHT. I’m sure you’ve heard of it, the iconic golden hour light, but it can be a little bit tricky to catch with the seasons changing. The golden hour used to be around 6:00 or 7:00pm but now, with fall quickly turning into winter, we were out and about around 3:00pm! Following the light and planning for this time difference made a HUGE impact on the final result for these images.
